When someone asked me recently how I run 50 miles in the mountains, I gave them a straight answer.  I don’t.  Well, not exactly. The reality is I don’t run 50 miles straight.  I have to take breaks.

 

Talk to most Ultra Marathoners (runners going beyond the 26.2 miles of a marathon), and they’ll tell you the same thing – even the elite ultra-runners  walk a little, drink some water, change shoes, use the facilities, even nap, and their day is often 15-30 hours!

Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Stick

We have all been there. The New Year arrives and we make a list of things we want to change about ourselves.  Maybe we want to lose weight or exercise more or increase our savings account.  Whatever the resolution, as January turns into February and winter turns into spring, these goals become harder and harder to stick with and by midyear our resolutions are a thing of the past.

 

Luckily this does not always have to be the case! According to this article from the American Psychological Association, there are steps we can take when creating our New Year’s resolutions that make us more likely to stick with them.
