Children’s Mental Health Awareness

Chad Bouchard, LPC

Family
As the school year comes to a close, your children’s behaviors may reflect an attitude shift from academics to summer activities. Even though your child won’t be in school much longer, continuing to watch and being aware of their behavior is just as important now as in the beginning of the school year. Often times a child’s mental health concerns get minimized and/or ignored when the school expectations and peer groups shift. As a parent, if you notice atypical behaviors and/or continued concerns regarding your child’s behavior and mood getting him/her to their pediatrician is always a good first step. Your child’s doctor can be a great resource for both mental and physical needs.
