With Memorial Day upon us, we begin to think of summer fun, backyard barbeques, vacations, days at the pool and all those activities representing the summer season. It is important to take time to pause and to think of what this holiday actually means.
Memorial Day is a day to reflect on the cost of freedom and a time to honor those who paid the ultimate price. Forty-six million people served in the uniform services of this nation since its founding. One million and one hundred ninety thousand people have died in all our wars to keep our flag flying.
Since 1919 during the month of May, Veteran’s organizations have been found distributing poppies. The funds raised by these efforts are used for programs that benefit veterans and military families.
Below are articles that provide additional information on Memorial Day or have meaningful suggestions on how you can show your support:

- Take a moment to pause during the “National Moment of Remembrance” at 3 p.m., May 30th.
